ENVIRONMENTAL AUDITING

SAI China hosted the International Seminar on Green Development and Desertification Prevention and Control Audit from June 11 to 13, 2024 in Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in China. Mr. LI Feng, Deputy Auditor General of SAI China attended the opening session and extended his welcome on behalf of Mr HOU Kai, Auditor General of China. He delivered a keynote speech on China's desertification mitigation strategies and the contribution of government auditing.

Delegates from the SAIs of China, Kazakstan, Maldives, Mongolia, Morocco, Tanzania and UAE attended the event in person. SAIs of Portugal and Iraq shared their experience via video presentations. In addition to knowledge sharing, the delegates also made a field trip to Zhongwei City of Ningxia for projects related to green development and desertification control.

The INTOSAI Working Group on Environmental Audit (WGEA) emphasized that this meeting filled a gap in current environmental audit fields and would have an important impact on the attention of SAIs to global sustainable development
